Giant Stuffed Shells

Giant Stuffed Shells

This recipe came from a neighbor of mine when I lived in Maryland. It’s a great church potluck recipe since it will serve at least 6 people.

NOTE: This dish can be made ahead but allow more baking time. ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion-chopped
  • 8 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • ¼ chopped dried parsley
  • 18 giant shells
  • 32oz. jar spaghetti sauce
  • ½ cup red wine
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 clove garlic minced

Instructions

Brown beef, onion and garlic. Drain excess fat and let cool.

Stir in Mozzarella cheese, bread crumbs, parsley, egg, salt and pepper.

Cook shells until almost done. Drain and stuff with the meat mixture.

Spoon ¼ of the sauce into bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. Layer shells into dish.

Mix the rest of the sauce with the wine and pour over shells. Top with the

Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly.
