Home Style Chili

This was my dad’s way of making chili. It is spicy but not too hot.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • ½ cup chopped green pepper
  • ½ cup chopped red pepper
  • 1(28 oz) undrained crushed
    tomatoes
  • ½ cup chopped red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 (1 lb) cans medium spiced chili beans
  • 2 (1 lb) cans hot chili beans

Instructions

Brown beef and add onion, celery, peppers and garlic. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes or until soft. Add spices and cook for about 3 minutes. Pour in tomatoes, tomato paste and the 4 cans of beans. Cover and simmer on low for about 30 minutes.

Top with your favorite condiments- diced onion, shredded cheese, sour cream, etc.
