NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST

NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST

This is a recipe passed down in my family from one generation to the next. It is the easiest and most flaky of crusts. This recipes makes enough for one 9 inch double crust.

Ingredients

3 cups all purpose flour

1 cup vegetable oil

Dash of salt

1/3 to 1/2  cups of water

Instructions

Put all ingredients in mixing bowl, stir but do not over mix. You should see white streaks of flour in the dough.

Roll ½ the dough between 2 sheets of plastic wrap ( I use the 18 inch width).*

Place in bottom of pie dish. Cut edges to fit. Put filling of your choice in dish.

Roll out the second portion of dough, place over filling, cutting off excess so that it is even with the rim of the dish. Crimp using your fingers or the tines of a fork.

Sprinkle the top of the crust with granulated sugar and bake at 450 degrees of 15 minutes to set crust, tun oven down to 375 for 45 to 60 minutes. The time will depend on your filling.

*Wipe your counter with a damp cloth to keep the plastic wrap from moving.
